GCLC is excited to introduce our newest community partner, University of Michigan-Flint’s Community Writing Center, The Rough Draft Café. Located at the Flint Public Library, in the Kommareddi Room, The Rough Draft Café is open to the public every Thursday from January 18 - February 22 and March 7 - April 25

from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Staff is available on a first-come first-served basis to help with academic, creative, and professional writing. Whether you need writing tools and strategies, a sounding board for your new writing project, or assistance with revising your work, this is a free space to receive support.

Sessions typically run around 30 minutes but may be extended depending on need and availability. Writers 14 years and younger require a parent or guardian over the age of 18 to sign the student in and remain in the library.

What is the Family Centered Coaching Professional Learning Community?

Hosted by the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network (FGLN), the Family Centered Coaching (FCC) Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a virtual cohort of professionals who support each other in learning and practicing the Family Centered Coaching approach.

FCC is a holistic, integrated, fluid, and participant led approach that consists of tools, tips, and strategies for working with families. FCC recognizes that each individual is part of a family or larger system with their own unique interests, strengths, and goals.

FCC is a client centered coaching framework built on a foundation of evidence-based practices that enables practitioners to collaborate with their clients as equal partners as they strive to achieve goals and improve the lives of their families.

As part of this community, members are invited to participate in bi-monthly coaches' sessions and receive bi-monthly newsletters. Additional benefits include relevant professional development, enhanced knowledge of the FCC framework, access to a supportive network of fellow coaches and professionals, and a space to share your own experience, expertise, and resources.

While no registration is needed for the Fall Mixer, you can register to become a FCC PLC member here. For more information on the FCC PLC or the Fall Mixer, please contact FGLN by phone at (810) 232-2526 or by email at flintandgeneseeliteracy@gmail.com.
